IJLP 2021 Autumn Semester(Q3) Timetable

★We also post the latest information about IJLP on IJLP Official Twitter Follow @IjlpKu

Instruction Method

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all the courses in IJLP will be conducted online through the “e-IJLP” (LMS, Leaning Management System) and a web-conference platform. There will be no face-to-face class this semester.

Students should register for classes through the Acanthus Portal (Student Information Service) before the first lesson of each class.

Class details, such as instruction types, requirements, and maximum capacity, are written in the syllabus of each course. Please make sure to read the syllabus before registering for a class.

For more information on the online registration process and the LMS, please refer to the IJLP website.

How to attend the first lesson of each class:

After you have registered for classes, you can access each class on the LMS (named “e-IJLP”).

All international students who wish to register for Japanese language classes (including students who are overseas) must attend the first lesson on “e-IJLP.” The steps for participating in Japanese language classes are presented here:

1. Choose your classes by looking at the timetable and syllabi and decide which classes you would like to take.

2. Register for these classes through the Acanthus Portal by the day before the first lesson for each class.

* During the registration period, you can change your registration for classes anytime.

3. Log in to the e-IJLP and access the course that you want to join.

4. Read the course syllabus, course guidance, and course schedule available in the upper section.

Class Levels

If you passed last semester, you may advance to the next level this semester.

*[NOTE] Regarding Skill-Specific Classes, you may take a class of your current level or of a level that is one above or below your current level (only if the instructor permits it). The level of each class is written on its syllabus: ensure to check the class level before registering.

Grades will be available to view online through the Acanthus Portal by checking on Student Information Service after each semester ends (the date on which grades become available online differs depending on academic department).

<To new students>

Upon entering the IJLP, students are required to take a placement test. The results of this placement test will determine your level and the classes you may take.

For more details about the IJLP Orientation and Placement Test, please refer to the following page.

Class Method

Courses are basically offered online (e-IJLP), with some parts being taught through a web conference scheduled on specific days and at a specific time (JST, UTC+9). Class sessions take place in real time, and the instructor leads the course sessions. Students meet remotely as a class through Zoom (the instructors will instruct the students on which platform to use). They then complete assignments according to the course schedule on e-IJLP on their own schedules as they meet specific deadlines and complete assignments.

Some of the skill specific classes are offered online (e-IJLP) only (asynchronous distance learning). You can check the class format by referring to the following section in the syllabus page:

< To students who will study from outside of Japan >

*Students who will study from outside of Japan also must attend the class from their country on specific days and at specific time (JST, UTC+9), if synchronous sessions are available for their course.

*Students who are going to study in Kanazawa this semester but find it difficult to attend the synchronous sessions because of the time difference are allowed to ask the instructor(s) about alternative methods of study for synchronous sessions. Please contact the course instructor and follow their direction.

*To contact each course instructor, students can send a message through the Acanthus Portal and e-IJLP. To use the Acanthus Portal and e-IJLP, they must register for classes.
