The International Center for Japan Studies and Education at Kanazawa University is engaged in interdisciplinary research encompassing various aspects of Japanese culture, society, and language, with a focus on Japanese studies. Japanese language and Japanese language education
The Center conducts research on the Japanese language from a linguistic perspective, as well as on the acquisition of Japanese as a second language and its education, as it relates to Japanese language education and related fields.

Japanese Thought, Literature and History
We are engaged in interdisciplinary and multifaceted research on Japanese martial arts and its ideology, Japanese history and literature from ancient to modern times, and various fields of philosophy, collaborating with researchers in Japan and abroad as well.

Environmental Conservation and SGDs in Japan
We are researching sustainable development in UNESCO-designated areas such as Biosphere Reserves and World Geoparks. In particular, we are collaborating with researchers from around the world on regional issues and sustainable development in the Hakusan region of Ishikawa Prefecture and disseminating our findings from Japan to the rest of the world.
